OziChat — Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Welcome to OziChat ("we", "us", "our", or "the App"). OziChat is a messaging, calling, and social application operated by KennyEjis LLC. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have when using OziChat.

By installing or using OziChat, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

2. Information we collect

2.1 Information you provide

• Account information: name, phone number, email address, profile photo, and date of birth (where applicable).
• Profile content: display name, bio, status messages, and other information you choose to add.
• Messages and media: text messages, photos, videos, voice notes, files, and stickers you send through the App.
• Calls: metadata about voice and video calls (duration, participants, timestamps). We do not record the audio or video of your calls.
• Marketplace listings: if you post ads or listings, the content and any associated images.
• Support communications: information you share when you contact us for help or feedback.

2.2 Information collected automatically

• Device information: device model, operating system version, language, and a randomly-generated device identifier.
• Usage data: features used, screens viewed, crash reports, and performance metrics.
• Network information: IP address, connection type, and approximate region (derived from IP).

2.3 Information you choose to share

• Contacts: if you grant permission, we read your device contacts to help you find friends already on OziChat. We do not upload contacts of people who are not on OziChat without your explicit consent.
• Location: if you grant permission, we may use your location to share your live location in chat or to show nearby people/places in the marketplace. You can revoke this permission at any time.

3. Device permissions

OziChat requests the following permissions on Android. You can grant or deny each one in your device settings at any time.

• Camera — to make video calls, capture photos/videos for chat, and update your profile picture.
• Microphone — to make voice and video calls, and to record voice notes.
• Contacts — to help you find friends on OziChat. Used only with your permission.
• Storage / Media — to send and receive photos, videos, and files.
• Location — for live location sharing and marketplace features. Optional.
• Notifications — to alert you of new messages and calls.
• Network state — to determine connectivity and optimise message delivery.

4. How we use your information

• To provide and operate the App's core features (messaging, calling, profiles, groups, channels, status, marketplace).
• To deliver messages and calls to the people you intend to reach.
• To improve the App, fix bugs, and develop new features.
• To send you service-related notifications and important updates.
• To prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms.
• To comply with legal obligations.

We do not use your private messages or calls for advertising. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

5. Sharing & third parties

We share information only in the following limited circumstances:

• With other users: the people you chat or call with naturally receive the content you send them, plus your name and profile photo.
• Service providers: we use trusted third-party services to operate OziChat. These include cloud hosting, real-time communication (WebRTC) servers, push notification services (e.g. Firebase Cloud Messaging), and crash reporting.
• Legal requests: if required by law, valid court order, or to protect the safety of users, we may share information with authorities.
• Business transfers: if OziChat is involved in a merger or acquisition, your information may transfer to the new owner under the same protections.

6. Data retention & deletion

• Account information is retained while your account is active.
• Messages are stored on our servers only as long as needed to deliver them. Once delivered, messages remain on your device and the recipient's device — you control deletion from your own device.
• Call logs (metadata) are retained for up to 90 days for quality and abuse-prevention purposes.
• You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete account. After deletion, your profile and personal data are removed within 30 days, except where we are legally required to retain certain records.

7. Security

We use industry-standard practices to protect your data:

• Encrypted connections (HTTPS / TLS) for all data in transit.
• Secure authentication and access tokens.
• Restricted internal access to user data on a need-to-know basis.

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children's privacy

OziChat is intended for users aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

9. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
• Delete your data ("right to be forgotten").
• Object to or restrict certain processing.
• Receive a copy of your data in a portable format.
• Withdraw consent at any time.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify you in the App or by email. Your continued use of OziChat after changes means you accept the updated policy.
